Privacy Policy

What information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have

This Privacy Policy explains how California DMV Appointments (“we,” “us”) handles information when you visit californiadmvappointments.com or email us. You can read our guides without an account, so we collect very little about you. This page explains what we do collect and the rights you have, including under California law.

01

Who We Are and What This Covers

California DMV Appointments is an independent informational website about California DMV services. We are not the California DMV or any government agency. This policy applies to information collected through californiadmvappointments.com and through emails you send us.

It doesn’t cover information you give to the California DMV or to any other website you visit through our links. Those organizations have their own privacy policies.

02

Information We Collect

We collect two kinds of information:

Information you give us

When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in your message and any attachments.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and cookies record technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

In the categories used by California law, this means identifiers (such as IP address and email address), internet or other electronic network activity, and approximate location inferred from an IP address. We have collected these categories in the last 12 months.

Please don’t send us sensitive information such as driver’s license or ID numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, license plate numbers, vehicle identification numbers, payment details or photos of documents. We don’t need them, and we can’t access DMV records.

03

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain and secure the website
  • Understand which pages are useful and improve our guides and tools
  • Read and reply to your emails and act on reported corrections
  • Detect and prevent spam, abuse, fraud and security threats
  • Show and measure advertising, as described in section 04
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions
04

Cookies and Advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working, remember basic preferences and understand how the site is used. Our Cookie Policy explains the types of cookies and how to control them.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

05

How Information Is Shared

We don’t sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers that help us run the website, such as hosting, security, performance and email services, under terms that limit how they may use the information
  • Advertising partners that may collect cookie and device data as described in section 04
  • Legal reasons, when required by law or needed to protect the rights, safety or security of our website, our users or others
  • A change of ownership, if the website is sold or transferred, in which case your information may be transferred as part of that transaction

Under California law, some advertising cookies may count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of that sharing as explained in section 07.

06

Storage, Retention and Security

We keep emails only as long as we need them to answer you, fix a reported issue or meet legal obligations. Technical logs are generally kept for up to 12 months for security and troubleshooting.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
